We are the first Spanish B Corp® company in the furniture sector to promote positive change in society and the planet through our business. From campaigns that generate an impact on the global awareness of society to the workshops that we integrate in our network of artisans and that work with people of all kinds and conditions, with disabilities and at risk of exclusion.
Our aim is to reduce inequality and achieve a healthier planet. Reflecting with each of our actions the reflection of the society we aspire to.
What does it mean to be a B Corp® brand?
The B Corp® distinction is awarded by B Lab, an international non-profit organisation, to those companies that do not focus solely on economic ends, but are building a more inclusive and sustainable economy for all people and the planet.
B Corps must meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability.
B Corps must meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability.
At Hannun we work continuously to build an inclusive, sustainable and regenerative economy. Not only through our products but with everything behind them: employees, customers, planet and society.
These are some of the actions that have helped us become a B Corp®:
- Sustainable materials and responsible management: 50% of our furniture is made from reclaimed wood and the other 50% from wood harvested from forests in Europe with controlled exploitation.
- Artisan crafts at the centre: Our products are made on demand in small workshops of local artisans to whom we offer fair economic deals.
- Integration and diversity: Our workshops employ people with disabilities or at risk of exclusion.
- Campaign against deforestation: We travelled to the Amazon with environmental activist Lethal Crysis to raise awareness about illegal logging of tropical trees.
- Stop plastic pollution: We launched a collection of post-industrial plastic parts to prevent them from being dumped in the sea. In addition, we have almost completely eliminated the presence of plastics inside our packages.
- No animal abuse: the manufacture of our products does not involve any kind of animal abuse as we do not use animal-derived fabrics (certified by PETA).
Challenges for the future
Being B Corp® does not mean being perfect. We have many challenges ahead of us to continue building a project that has a positive impact on the planet and society.
- Manufacture without felling: Our aim is that all our furniture is made from reclaimed wood.
- Zero Plastic: We want to completely eliminate plastic in all our production processes.
- Zero Waste: Reduce stock to avoid waste and develop a system whereby customers can return their furniture when they no longer need it.
- Further integration: To continue incorporating workshops into our network that integrate people at risk of exclusion and employ people with disabilities.
- Equality policies: To continue working to end gender inequality in society, giving equal opportunities to women and men.
- Reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere: Group consignments by areas and deliver the last leg in electric vehicles.
Change starts at home! We strive to be the change we want to see in the world and hopefully inspire more companies to follow this path and make a real global impact.
