We delve into the first furniture-making workshop inside a Polish prison. A revolutionary social project that seeks to transform the present and future of inmates by giving them the opportunity to learn a trade.

When we received the proposal to collaborate with a wood workshop located inside the Wojkowice Penitentiary Center (Katowice, southern Poland), we were extremely surprised, but challenges are our reason for being.

Prison Project | A social project that broadens the horizons of conscious design, transforming the present and future of inmates through craftsmanship

A year after starting work with them, a Hannun team led by Joan Álvarez, CEO of the company, decided to visit the prison from the inside to learn about the workshop and its history. This is the first time the prison administration has allowed a film crew to film the inside of the facility and the stifling life behind bars.

There we met Krzysztof, the workshop's director and manager, the only person in the entire country willing to take on the challenge of leading this project and working hand in hand with the prisoners serving sentences at Wojkowice. It was a project that changed his life forever and helped him understand the importance of reintegrating prisoners into society.

Some of the inmates serving time at the prison and participating in the project explain to us firsthand what it means to them to be able to work in the workshop in such a complex context, and what implications it may have for their future.
