STORY
Artisan craftmanship centred on the use of wicker has always been a traditional trade and economic engine for Villoruela, a small town in Salamanca. However, many of its traditional workshops have closed down. Manolo is one of few artisans who continues fighting to ensure that this natural fibre recovers its leading role in the interior design of homes. Since his father passed down all of the treasured secrets of the trade 45 years ago, Manolo hasn’t stopped working with wicker. He looks after the whole process, from growing it and transforming it into furniture by hand, without using a single machine.
WHY DO WE WORK WITH Manolo?
We are passionate about doing our bit in the reactivation and revival of small towns. But it goes without saying that we are also love wicker in all its forms! There are few fibres that are more natural and sustainable. Manolo handcrafts some of our most sought-after pieces: the Jeno Cot, the Malve Headboard, the Medea Mirror, the Nicia Shelf and the Artemis Chair.
